Central Region, 2 Days

Day 1

CAPE COAST
Depart after breakfast to Cape Coast in the Central Region, passing through some of the principal streets of Accra. Sightseeing of the western part of the capital, Kaneshie, Odorkor, and Kasua, where there is a large market.

Continue to Mankesem, a famous settlement of one of Ghana’s Akan tribes. Next is Sultpond, the home of Ghana’s political history, and Anomabo the home of the famous Jazz musician, Louis Armstrong.

Arrive at Cape Coast Castle, which was the seat of the British Colonial administration until 1877 when the capital was moved to Accra. The Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Arrive at Elmina Castle. Built in 1482, and is said to be the oldest European built structure outside of Europe, and is also known as St Georges Castle. The castle was used during the Anglo Dutch War of 1664-1666 by Admiral de Ruyter, commander of the Dutch fleet. The harbor next to Elmina Castle has numerous pirogues preparing to go to sea and offers one of West Africa’s greatest photo opportunities. Elmina Castle is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Depart Elmina castle for a drive through the township of Elmina where you may visit to the European cemetery. Check into your hotel for over night stay and dinner.

Day 2

KAKUM NATIONAL PARK
Check-out after breakfast and drive to Kakum National Park, an undisturbed virgin forest situated about 30 km north of Cape Coast. Arrive at Kakum National Park, which is one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rainforests. This provides an unforgettable “Jungle” experience amidst the tropical vegetation and wildlife. The forest provides the opportunity to see much of Ghana’s indigenous plant life, rare butterflies, flora and fauna. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway, which is made up of seven bridges extending 330 meters and hanging 30 meters above the forest floor. Depart Kakum National Park.

Arrive at Anomabo Beach Resort for lunch and relaxation at the beach. A sampling of palm fringed beaches, warmed by African sunshine. Depart for Accra.
